Patriot William Moore assisted in establishing American Independence as a Private in Capt. Patterson and Cabell’s Company, Col. Moran’s Regiment, Virginia Militia.  William’s service is documented in his pension application S16982 at the U.S. National Archives & Records Administration.  He received a pension starting on 17 October 1833 for his service.  William returned to military service for the War of 1812.
 
William was born on 3 November 1757 in Buckingham County, Virginia and died on 1 February 1843 in Jackson County, Missouri.  He is buried at the Moore Burial Ground in Jackson County, Missouri.   The Moore Burial Ground is isolated within farm fields near 15600 Woods Chapel Road, Kansas City, Missouri, which is on the original Moore family farm at coordinates N38° 59' 09.66" and W94° 23' 59.29".
