118th KSSSAR Conference Wreath Laying Ceremony Fort Leavenworth National Cemetery Fort Leavenworth, Kansas Saturday, March 20, 2010
Experiencing 1779-1780 at Valley Forge is what it felt like at Fort Leavenworth, KS on Saturday, March 20, 2010, during a wreath laying ceremony at the Fort Leavenworth National Cemetery. Flanked by the Kansas Society Sons of the American Revolution Color Guard and supported by the Leavenworth High School Junior ROTC Color Guard in Revolutionary War costumes, PG Edward Butler, KSSSAR President Martin Klotzbach, and retired Lt. Col. Brooks Lyles, President of the local Henry Leavenworth Chapter of the SAR, conduct a wreath-laying at post founder Col. Henry Leavenworth's gravesite on March 20, 2010 at the Fort Leavenworth National Cemetery. Major General Robert Grover, MOSSAR Color Guard Commander, dual member of the KSSSAR, also participated. The Kansas Society was honoring American Revolutionary War ancestors during its annual conference by placing the wreath. Leavenworth's father, Jesse, served during the Revolutionary War.
