U.S. Constitution Day and Citizenship Day Proclamation:
WHEREAS, the Congress, by a joint resolution of February 29, 1952, designated September 17 as Constitution Day and Citizenship Day and by joint resolution of August 2, 1956, requested that the President proclaim the week of beginning Septemer 17 and ending September 23 of each year as "Constitution Week;" and it is fitting to accord official City recognition to this important anniversay.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Don B. Reimal, Mayor of the City of Independence, Missouri, do hereby proclaim September 17, 2012, as Constitution Day and Citizenship Day and the week of September 17 through 23, 2012, as Constitution Week in the City of Independence.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the City of Independence, Missouri, to be affixed this 17th day of September, 2012.
