340th Meeting Harry S. Truman Chapter Guest Speaker Thomas “Brooks” Lyles, Jr. Independence, Missouri Saturday, November 9, 2013
President Donald Lewis and the Harry S. Truman Color Guard, are shown here presenting Thomas “Brooks” Lyles, Jr., who was our guest speaker at the November 9, 2013 meeting, with a Certificate of Appreciation. Compatriot Lyles spoke on the Battle of Princeton. The Battle of Princeton was a turning point in the Revolutionary War. Having suffered grave defeats in New York in 1776, Washington now proved that his army could win; in addition, he now held a firm position in strategic New Jersey, which lay between the two great colonial cities of New York and Philadelphia.
