Pictured here is guest speaker, Mr. George J. Dunmore, at the 329th Harry S. Truman Chapter Meeting on Saturday, November 10, 2012. Mr. Dunmore spoke on the Tuskegee Airmen. During World War II, the Tuskegee Airmen were the first African-American military aviators in the United States armed forces. Mr. Dunmore provided historical events and current information and updates on the Tuskegee Airmen. There were 996 original Airmen. These included pilots, bombardiers, and navigators. More than 10,000 African-American and women served as their vital support personnel. The Tuskegee Airmen flew 15,533 sorties between May 1943 and June 1945. President Dirk Stapleton presented a certificate of appreciation and a Harry S. Truman Chapter “Challenge Coin” to Mr. Dunmore for being guest speaker.
