MOSSAR Harry S. Truman Chapter Color Guard Photo Gallery

The chapter was privileged to have as guest speaker, Compatriot Dennis Owens.  Compatriot Owens, spoke on 'The Most Important Figure in the American Revolution that we have never heard of'.    Compatriot Owens received the NSSAR War Service Medal for his public service to his Nation while serving in the Vietnam War. Compatriot Owens is also very active in his community serving in many organizations including the NSSAR and NSCAR.  We thank Compatriot Owens for sharing his knowledge on the American Revolution.

The Harry S. Truman Chapter was honored to have Regent Cathy Owens of the Kansas City DAR Chapter attend our luncheon.  Regent Cathy Owens received the NSSAR Medal of Appreciation for her support to NSSAR and the Harry S. Truman Chapter.   Regent Cathy Owens is an Honorary Senior National Vice President of the NSCAR, and has held many other various positions at the local, state and national levels for NSDAR and NSCAR.

Compatriot Dale Crandell received the NSSAR Meritorious Service Medal for his service as Chapter Secretary and Veterans Liaison Committee Chair.  Compatriot Crandell  has made many contributions to the Harry S. Truman Chapter and also actively attends several MOSSAR events and functions.  Compatriot Crandell was recognized for his exceptional accomplishments that is making our Chapter a better organization.

President Dirk Stapleton of the Harry S. Truman Chapter and President James Scott of the Independence Patriots Chapter conducted a joint award presentation.  President Stapleton and President Scott presented the NSSAR Silver Good Citizenship Medal to Compatriot Chester Bare for his service of over 40 plus years in the medical care of his community; and also serving as a dual member of the Harry S. Truman Chapter and Independence Patriots Chapter as Chapter Surgeon.

President Dirk Stapleton presented the Independence Patriots Chapter with a Certificate of Appreciation, for their assistance in local Harry S. Truman Chapter events and special activities in past years.  Upon behalf of the Independence Patriots Chapter, President James Scott and Compatriot Al Paris accepted the Certificate of Appreciation.

During the closing presentation, Compatriot Perry “Bud” Marks, Jr., entertained the group with his mandolin, in which he sang the traditional version of the “Liberty Song” which was originally composed in 1768.

The Harry S. Truman Chapter celebrated their Fourth of July Luncheon early this year on June 23, 2012, at the Grand Street Cafe in Kansas City, MO. The chapter was privileged to have as guest speaker, Compatriot Dennis Owens. Compatriot Owens, spoke on "The Most Important Figure in the American Revolution that we have never heard of". Compatriot Owens received the NSSAR War Service Medal for his public service to his Nation while serving in the Vietnam War. Compatriot Owens is also very active in his community serving in many organizations including the NSSAR and NSCAR. We thank Compatriot Owens for sharing his knowledge and insight on the American Revolution. Compatriot Owens also conducted a quiz on the American Revolutionary War, in which he offered books as prizes for winners of this quiz.
