The Harry S. Truman Chapter Color Guard is shown here during an R.O.T.C. award recognition ceremony for Cadet Byran Lerch II at Lee's Summit West High School on April 7, 2009. The S.A.R. fosters the principle of the "citizen-soldier", exemplified by the Minutemen of Revolutionary War days. This award is presented by the Harry S. Truman Chapter Color Guard to any ROTC or JROTC cadets who are selected for having a high degree of merit with respect to leadership qualities, military bearing and general excellence.
