Richard Simms Grave Marker - Simms Family Burial Ground, Clay Co., Liberty, Missouri.
 
Patriot Richard Simms assisted in establishing American Independence as a Private in Capt. Washington’s Company, Col. Mercer, Weedon, and Marshall’s Regiment, 3rd Virginia.  His service is documented in his pension application S17093 at the U.S. National Archives & Records Administration.
 
Richard was born on 13 March 1752 in Stafford County, Virginia and died on 21 October 1850 in Clay County, Missouri.  He is buried at the Simms Family Burial Ground, Clay County, Missouri, which is located on private property at 13915 Missouri Route A, Liberty, Missouri and coordinates: N39° 20' 41.98" and W94° 25' 49.81".  There is also a military tombstone memorial marker located at the Mount Olivet Cemetery located at 121-199 Missouri 92 Highway, Kearney, Missouri and coordinates: N39° 22' 21.56" and W94° 21' 51.49".
