Patriot Anthony Thomas assisted in establishing American Independence as a Private in the Maryland Militia.  He enrolled in a Maryland Flying Camp Company, enrolled by Captain Jacob Good and accepted by Colonel Charles Beatty on 20 July 1776.
 
Anthony Thomas was born on 4 July 1759 in Frederick County, Maryland and died 17 April 1825 in Waverly, Lafayette County, Missouri.  He is buried at Thomas-Buck-Galbraith Cemetery, which is located one-quarter mile east of Waverly bordered by US-65 and US-24 highways in Lafayette County, Missouri at coordinates:  N39° 12’ 17.54” and W93° 30’ 25.46”.
